May 15th at 8:30 p.m. in Downtown Los Angeles
The School of Critical Studies hosts it annual reading showcasing the graduating class of CalArts MFA Creative Writing Program.
Next Words is both a reading series and a publication featuring work by graduating MFA Creative Writing students. The readings take place at venues throughout Los Angeles—bookstores, art galleries, community centers—during the spring of each year. At the final Showcase reading, the graduating class presents brief excerpts from their work—a selection of fiction, poetry, nonfiction and hybrid genres. The publication representing their work will also be on hand. Followed by a reception, the Showcase offers an opportunity to experience the exciting new writing coming out of CalArts and to raise a glass to a group of talented and dedicated young writers.
